If the sixth wave is going to be based on resource efficiency, in which direction could the seventh wave of innovation take us?
If our prediction is correct, by the end of the sixth wave we will have an economy in which economic growth is no longer dependent on the irreversible consumption of resources. The creation of value will be linked to human time and ingenuity, and intellectual property will take on a new significance. In this scenario, innovation might well be focused on extracting the most out of human resources: the seventh wave could be the human efficiency or human capacity wave, in which the key drivers of technology will be to get people as smart and as healthy as possible.
